Os jovens tem uma força sem precedente para criar o mundo que eles querem.

A internet é um dos maiores sistemas vivos auto-organizados do planeta. Os jovens hoje tem um poder enorme porque a internet possibilita um diálogo mundial sem os limites políticos.
Observem o uso que eles já fazem da internet: Enquando os adultos se utilizam da internet comercialmente, sexualmente e ideologicamente, os jovens mostram pouco interesse em racismo, assuntos de guerra ou ambição. Eles estão distantes de ideologias, são muito mais abertos a novas idéias.
Nossos jovens estão se tornando agentes de suas próprias vidas, publicando blogs, produzindo e distribuindo suas próprias músicas e vídeos, formando organizações como Youth for Environmental Sanity, e outras incontáveis associações para justiça social, paz e questões ambientais.

O maior desafio para eles é a mudança do sistema econômico de tal forma, que ninguém aparecerá se uma guerra for deflagrada. Por causa da internet, nunca uma geração esteve tão bem equipada e informada individualmente e em grupos através de culturas, religiões e ideologias do que a atual

Zero é o novo modelo econômico”, disse Anderson durante a palestra.

“Tudo o que estiver online, mais cedo ou mais tarde, será de graça”, sentencia o editor da Wired Magazine.

Gratuito, porém, não significa que não haja custos. “É gratuito porque alguém paga por isso”, explica Anderson, comparando o modelo a transmissões de rádio ou televisão, em que a publicidade assume os custos em troca da atenção da audiência.

O modelo econômico “gratuito” é dividido por Anderson em duas tendências. Na primeira, o produto é oferecido de graça, mas leva o consumidor a comprar outro do mesmo fabricante. A companhia aérea irlandesa Ryanair é um exemplo usado por ele. As passagens chegam a custar US$ 20 (cerca de R$ 40), mas a companhia cobre o custo da viagem cobrando pela bagagem despachada, pelas refeições que são vendidas durante o vôo, etc.

A segunda tendência se baseia no fato de que o preço de qualquer coisa relacionada a redes digitais diminui muito rapidamente. Um transistor, exemplifica Anderson, custava dezenas de dólares na década de 1960, e hoje chega a custar 0,000001 centavos de dólar.

Top Ways to Save our Planet

1) Give back what you don't need.

If you are given too many of something, don't just throw it away, but return it. You can also say no to receiving it in the first place (extra Creamer, Napkins etc.)

2) Reuse rather than recycle.

Recycling is good but it's not the ultimate answer. Reusing containers, bags and other items will make a much bigger impact than recycling ever will.

3) Bring your own bags.

Keep cloth or other durable bags in your car or purse so that you can use these rather than asking for plastic or paper bags. This conserves energy and our environment. Stores will give discounts to customers who bring their own bags. It takes 1,000 years to break down a plastic bag in a landfill.

4) Consume what is on your plate or split a meal.

Be responsible and eat what you order. If you can't eat what is in front of you, than split it with a friend and next time order less.

5) Say No Thanks to free / cheap things that you won't use.

You don't have to accept what is given to you
especially if you won't use it. Free or cheap plastic junk is everywhere and you can say no to it. Don't support those 25 or 50 cent vending machines even if your kids beg you, instead give them a hug.

6) Buy Organic.

Support healthy and sustainable planet by buying organic. Organics are healthier for you, taste better and will help save our planet.

7) Invent and support sustainable / reusable products.

Our throwaway society will eventually pollute and destroy our earth so there is nothing left for our children. Support products that are sustainable and
reusable. Better yet, invent something yourself, spread the word and change the world.

8) Reward good behavior.
Breaking out of mind patterns that will eventually destroy our planet is difficult. We Are so prone to doing things automatically that we don't even think about the ramifications. Instead of ordering a cup of coffee to go and discarding the cup and plastic lid, bring your own mug. Discounts for good behavior can be a way to break these mind sets.

9) Make your waste usable - Positively effect our Environment.

Instead of taking the easy way out and discarding waste in your garbage, see if you can find a use for it. You can also find ways to make your final product / container positively affect our environment (i.e. cardboard cups that have seeds and can be planted)

10) Use electronic communication / marketing where possible.
Where ever possible, use electronic communication rather than cards or brochures. This may put a dent into Hallmark or Kinkos profits, but it can help save our planet.

11) Speak Up / Question Harmful Company behavior.

If you see something that is just plain wrong than inquiry, speak up. You can write a letter (or better yet email them or submit online feedback) to the CEO of the company to let them know that as a customer you do not like their practices. Remember you have more power than you think. You can always opt to support their competition.

12) Sometimes the Hard Way is The Best Way. Life is not meant to be easy.

There are plenty of opportunities to take the easy way out and just along with society. Yet, you must break this trend and do what is right and just not what is the easiest.

12) Green up your home.

Replace your cleaning products with eco-friendly brands; eliminate lawn pesticides; rethink and reuse what you have in your home; use an air purifier & leave your shoes at the front door.

O jornal britânico The Guardian publicou nesta quinta-feira (16/4) uma lista na qual elege as dez praias mais bonitas do Brasil. Entre elas, está a praia do Bonete, em Ilhabela (SP).


















A Praia do Bonete é uma das comunidades tradicionais caiçaras de Ilhabela, onde o acesso só é feito por trilha ou pelo mar. Para alcançá-la é preciso cruzar 15 km de trilha na Mata Atlântica, passando por cachoeiras e mirantes. Na praia é possível se hospedar em pousadas ou em casas alugadas por moradores. O contraste do mar com o verde da mata e o Rio Nema chama a atenção de quem visita o Bonete e que com certeza não se esquece jamais.

You'll have to walk a fair way to arrive at his beach – but don't think of that as a punishment. For me, the path is the best part, as you pass waterfalls and walk in the shade of the Mata Atlântica, Brazil's dwindling virgin coastal forest. Half an hour before the end of the 15km walk you'll see the beach at Bonete: this is what Brazil must have looked like to the Portuguese when they first arrived over 500 years ago: just blue sea, golden sand and dense green forest. Finally, the beach: a half-mile strip of sand next to a river estuary, with good waves for surfing. There's a small community of fishermen who offer very simple accommodation, or you can camp (you should stay at least two days). To return to Sepituba, on Ilhabela, there are canoes and boats (US$30pp) unless you enjoy the walk as much as I do, and decide return on foot, too.

The Significance of President Obama Praising Lula's "Good Looks"

"That's my man right here," President Obama said this morning at the G-20 summit as Brazil President Luiz Inacio Lula de Silva approached him. "Love this guy. He's the most popular politican on earth. It's because of his good looks."

Lula, it should be noted, is hardly the George Clooney of the G-20. But beyond that, the moment was quite telling in terms of the understanding that these leaders have for one another's domestic political considerations.

A few days ago, Lula said that the global economic crisis "was fostered and boosted by irrational behaviour of people that are white, blue-eyed, that before the crisis looked like they knew everything about economics."

‘Now they have demonstrated that they don’t know anything about economics," said Lula, adding that "no black man or woman, no indigenous person, no poor person" can be held responsible.

Administration sources say that one of the interesting dynamics playing out here is the rhetoric of these G-20 leaders versus the reality of what they and their representatives are saying behind the scenes.

"I was in Brazil last week," said British Prime Minister Gordon Brown yesterday, "and I think President Lula will forgive me for saying this -- he said to me, 'When I was leader of the trade unions, I blamed the government; when I became leader of the opposition, I blamed the government; when I became the government, I blamed Europe and America.' And he recognizes, as we do, that this is a global problem."

President Obama alluded to this as well when asked about the rhetoric coming from the leaders of France and Germany against his push for more global stimulus.

"There have been differences in terms of how should that stimulus be shaped. There have been arguments, for example, among some European countries that because they have more of a social safety net, that some of the countercyclical measures that we took -- for example, unemployment insurance -- were less necessary for them to take," the president said. "But the truth is,...that's just arguing at the margins. The core notion that government has to take some steps to deal with a contracting global marketplace and that we should be promoting growth, that's not in dispute."

The President said, "I know that when you've got a bunch of heads of state talking, it's not visually that interesting...the communiqués are written in sort of dry language, and so there's a great desire to inject some conflict and some drama into the occasion. But the truth of the matter is, is that I think there has been an extraordinary convergence and I'm absolutely confident that the United States, as -- as a peer of these other countries, will help to lead us through this very difficult time."
